Cool and pleasant today. Held a meeting early in the morning, again at 9 o’clock; preached upon faith and works, showed them that faith without works was dead, being alone. Read the 2nd chapter of Saint James. Had a tolerable good flow of the spirit and of the language also. Br. Uaua made some remarks backing up what I had said. Br. Woodbury dismissed the meeting. Not many new ones a coming out to hear, appear to be afraid. May the Lord take away their fear and fill them with His good Spirit that they may understand His work that He has commenced in their midst. At 3 p.m. met again, preached from the book of John. After me Br. Woodbury spoke a little on the same subject, followed by Br. Uaua at some length on the same subject and others also. The work appears to be standing still here at present; what the cause, I do not know, unless because some have come in without any faith in the work and are hanging on to the rest.
