goldpen

Cold blustering weather for this place; can have a thick coat on some of the time with comfort. A great deal of sickness among the natives; a good many died among the churches, but none in ours as yet. Bought me a new gold pen today, paid 50 [cents], also one dollar’s worth of paper and some ink. Gave or loaned to Dow one of the Deseret newspapers. He is a regular Mormon hater, so I hear, but very kind and pleasant to me. The wind still from the northeast. Br. Woodbury still with me.
